The Cure for A Sickness.

As you might know, I have been sick. It all started on Friday while we were Christmas shopping. My throat got scratchy and I felt like I needed a drink 24/7. Then on Saturday my nose became stuffy and my throat got worse. I had music team this weekend, and even though I didn't feel good, I went. On Sunday morning, I really didn't feel like going. I wanted to stay in bed. But I went! Afterwards we went to Panda with some friends. When I got home I felt extremely bad. It was horrible. Monday I woke up feeling much better. And today, it's about the same. A little congested and some draining in my throat.
I'm surprised I've gotten better so fast!
Here's what helped:
Treating the sick as soon as you feel it.
Surround yourself with good influences.
Drink hot lemon tea.
Nyquil and Dayquil are your best friend.
Rest a lot!
Listen to music.
Make other people do your chores.
Play games.
and, have a good attitude!!!

Excitingness.

Well yesterday was a very long, amazing day!
We started off by going to the orthodontist to get my new retainer. (Which has made my mouth very sore.) After that we went to get gas and go to a store to get an early Christmas present. I didn't know we were going until after the ortho. I didn't even know where haha. But I figured it out, because I only asked for one thing that my parents couldn't get without me being there. :) BOOTS! It took me a while to pick which ones I wanted, or to find the ones I wanted, actually. There were a ton!

After that we went to Forever 21 to get something for me to wear this weekend at church, since I'm playing. We found a pretty red shirt in the big store, but we couldn't find anything to go with it. (It doesn't have sleeves and we're not allowed to wear sleeveless shirts.) So we went to the little one and of course, found something to go with it. :)
Then we went home to get my identity, then to get my permit! I missed 4 out of 30, but I passed. :)
After that we went to Walmart and the church office, and finally home.

Mom let me drive on the street before our street, and on our street, and up to the garage.

And so, it was a pretty awesome day. :)

The Beginning.

I'm in the process of writing a book, (which I can only write on weekends...) and I thought I'd share the very beginning of it. It's about the 3 horses I learned to ride on. So enjoy...

                                                     Licorice

I learned how to ride on Licorice. He was a black Morgan pony, with the sweetest face. He had a white stripe down his nose and two white socks on his back feet. Being a Morgan, he was fairly short. That horse was probably the easiest horse to ride. He jumped anything, had smooth gaits, and listened very well. I really loved that guy. I learned how to groom, tack up, ride, jump…and love. All because of him.
When he started getting really old, Kerri (my riding instructor) retired him. She didn’t think he would make it through the winter, but he did. I think later that year he died. But I was only nine, so I don’t remember.

                                                         Indy

Indy was a horse I also learned to ride on. He lived with Licorice. Indy was a tall chestnut Quarter Horse. I think he is why I now love chestnuts so much. I remember one time he bucked and I stayed on—I was so proud! And one time he tripped and completely fell on the ground—I was very worried. Indy loved to jump, and so did I. Kerri would set up courses and I would go around and jump all of them. One day I learned to jump oxers. Oxers are two jumps put together, but with some space between them. I was so excited about it I couldn’t stop telling my teacher about it the next day at school. I also got to jump a 2.5 foot jump bareback on him. That was so much fun!

                                                           Chediski Fire

Chediski was a horse that Kerri started borrowing and training from her good friend. He also replaced Licorice. Chediski was a big ball of fire! He was only 3 at the time. A Quarter horse bay. His trot was not a trot, it was a prance. He did not canter, he ran. At first it was fun, but after a while, I hated riding him. I was always afraid I wasn’t going to be able to stop him. That horse was cute, but he was a major brat. The last time I rode him, it was a cloudy day, and he was already in a strange mood. When it came time to canter, he started off fine but just got faster and faster to where I couldn’t control him anymore. It didn’t help either that Kerri’s dog kept barking at Sky. Finally, as we were coming around a turn, I just slid right off. Got a mouth full of dirt and a huge raspberry on my side. After that incident, we decided it wasn’t safe anymore. I rode one last time on Indy

I Love my Horse.

It's a cold, overcast afternoon. I go outside all bundled up, yet somehow the cold still gets to me. I catch my horse and put on her bridle. After picking out her muddy feet, I climb on her back and ride off. Her fuzzy winter coat and long black mane are soft on my cold hands. A few times around and her warm belly warms me up. I can see the setting sun peek through the grey clouds. When I get off, my horse breathes her warm, sweet breath on my neck; so I give her a peppermint. Now the sun has set and the wind is picking up, but she is there, to offer a comforting hug against the winter cold.
